Projects 2010

The actions of the Estonian Health Foundation in 2010.

  1. 18 March 2010 – Conference Men’s Health 2. Subjects: the health, lifespan, sexual health and alcohol consumption of Estonian men. More than 400 participants.
  2. 22 May 2010 – Celebrating the European Obesity Day. The body mass index of the members of Riigikogu and the members of the Tallinn City Council was measured. Famous Estonian men received pedometers and walked for their health during one week.
  3. Summer 2010 – Idea competition: how to decrease the number of deaths by drowning? Ideas awarded at the competition: http://ehf.ee/minuideed.php The winners of the idea competition were Priit Vehm, Juhan Ernits, Hanna Ilusmets. The prizes of the idea competition were awarded by the Deputy Secretary General on Health Ivi Normet from the Ministry of Social Affairs, member of the Social Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu Maret Maripuu and the President of the Estonian Swimming Federation Evelyn Sepp.
  4. Swimming lessons for adults and children. A total of 96 people learned how to swim. The lessons were held in the Nõmme Swimming Pool and were coached by Tõnu Meijel. The project was supported by the Gambling Tax Council.

  5. 1 October 2010 – Celebrating the International Day for the Elderly in the Männi Park in Tallinn. A performance was given by singer Voldemar Kuslap, events introducing physical activity were carried out and people were given the chance to pole walk.
  6. Establishing the IT Cluster and its activities: joining the IT companies in Estonian health care; visiting USA and introducing Estonian IT solutions. IT Cluster: http://www.ehf.ee/medklastrid/et/Esileht

  7. In cooperation with the Estonian Cancer Society, a benefit concert-performance dedicated to fighting lung cancer: The Elvis Presley Story at the Nokia Concert Hall.
  8. Activities related to the opening of the Vaccine Line: Vaccine Line was opened in cooperation with the family physicians’ advisory line 1220. Information on vaccination is given 24 hours a day.
  9. Doctor of the Year 2010. The Doctor of the Year 2010 award was given posthumously to gynaecologist Krista Vinkel. The award was given to her relatives by Evelin Ilves.
